Class Experience

This class will be a deep dive into understanding how to recognize emotions in themselves and others. Learners will learn tips and tricks to figuring out what others are feeling just by looking at someone. They will become feelings detectives in order to identify what other people are feeling. We will learn what clues our bodies give us in order to figure out the feelings. Learners will get hands on experiences with recognizing emotions through games, role playing, pictures, and video clips. We will explore emotions such as sad, happy, made, surprised, and excited. We will start by learning the names of emotions and then use our new found detective skills to piece together the puzzle of understanding other people's feelings.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! I am Ms. Erin!

Flex options are available now!

I love all things social skills and emotional regulation! I have been a special education teacher for over 5 years primarily in the Madison, Wisconsin area. I believe that social skills are the most important part of learning and want to make that accessible to all learners! Students learn best from doing and practicing skills and there is no better way to learn social skills other than practicing them with others. I am also super passionate about social justice in my community and have taken the opportunity to join a local non-profit focused on racial justice issues, social justice, and making sustainable changes in a community. In my community, we still have a ways to go in terms of social justice and as an educator, I feel strongly about teaching kids all sides of a story.
In my personal life, I have a toddler running around my house along with a rescue cat and 2 dogs. We spend a lot of time outdoors and finding new adventures to take.
