1:1 Crack the Code to Reading

All of my Crack the Code classes focus on the Simple View of Reading.   

 The Simple View of Reading (SVoR) is:
                 Decoding (D) x Language Comprehension (LC) = Reading Comprehension (RC)

During this one-time class, I will assess your student on the Decoding (reading) side of the SVoR. Depending on the student's age that  includes:
     * letter/sound knowledge
     * phonological awareness
     * phonics skills (6 syllable types)
This assessment may also include encoding (spelling)

I will assess your student by playing games such as tic-tac-toe and a Superhero game I created. They won't even know they are being assessed. 

After class, I will create a report for you that will list strengths and weaknesses, and give you tips on how to use the strengths to improve the weaknesses. 
     
If time permits, I will give a brief lesson on a needed skill.  

Even though this is a one time class, it has the potential to be the beginning of an on-going or multi-session class for your child. This one time class gives us a chance to make sure it is what you want for your child before you make a long term commitment. I am trained to identify characteristics of Dyslexia and a trained Dyslexia teacher. This class is wonderful for students with dyslexia or other reading difficulties. If you are interested in this class and have a student that is outside the age range, please contact me for more information. Struggles with reading can not be defined by age. All children can read if they know how to Crack the Code.
