In this one-time class, students will listen to a story about Hope the Rainbow Fairy, who loves to spread color and kindness in Fairyland. But the fairy flu has hit Fairyland and everyone has to stay home. We will follow Hope as she discovers magical ways to spread rainbow colors and bring the fairies together, even when they are apart. This is a story of hope for all children around the world during this difficult time. After, we will do a rainbow experiment and make a ‘twirling ribbon...
*The student will work on story retelling. *The student will make predictions. *The student will practice good listening skills. *The student will engage in conversation. *The student will engage in an art project to produce a rainbow.
I am an experienced elementary reading teacher and have a great love for children’s literature and being able to incorporate books into all subject areas. I want my students to be excited about reading/writing and I feel that my passion comes thru in each story I tell!
*a white or light colored dinner plate *m&m’s without nuts work the best *a bit of water and a spoon *a stick around 1 foot long or so *various ribbons of different colors, widths and patterns *scissors to cut ribbon if not precut *fairy wings, tutu, and a tiara if you have them
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
*Parental guidance will be needed for the science project and with cutting ribbon if not precut. The ribbon will be tied onto a stick to twirl around.
