Fraction Operations BOOT CAMP 6th 7th 8th Grade
What's included
Homework
4+ hours per week. 📋 There are practice assignments with answer keys to reinforce the topic from each video lesson. These do not need to be submitted to me but should be completed. There will be a weekly assessment that should be submitted to me so I can check progress and provide feedback. I estimate about 1 hour of work per lesson for 8 lessons plus 2 assessments should be about 10 total hours of work for the 2 week class.Class Experience
US Grade 5 - 8
🌟 If you’d like a copy of an assessment to see if this class would be a good fit for your learner please message me. 📚 CLASS FORMAT: This is a FLEX course so you can make it work around your schedule! There are no live sessions to attend. The class is a review and refresh of the major 5th & 6th grade concepts of creating equivalent fractions, converting, adding, subtracting, multiplying & dividing fractions. 📓 2 WEEK BOOTCAMP CLASS INCLUDES: - 4 video lessons per week (for a total of 8 in all), each video is ~15-20 min - 4 practice worksheets per week to compliment every video lesson (answer keys provided) - 1 assessment each week which learners submit to me for individualized teacher feedback * I also offer this as a 6 week class with 2 lessons per week, link at bottom 📆 SCHEDULE: - Week 1: Equivalent Fractions, Converting Fractions, Add & Subtract Fractions - Week 2: Multiply & Divide Fractions, Mixed Fraction Operations Review 📌 REQUIRED MATH SKILLS: Students should already have been introduced to these fraction topics. This class is a review/re-learn style class that assumes they have seen these topics before but need short lessons, reminders, tips and extra practice to gain mastery. 👤 COMMUNICATION: We will communicate through the Outschool classroom. Learners will be able to reach out to me with questions at any point. I am happy to reply with a written or video message or set up one 15 minute Q&A session with your learner as needed. 🎯 GROWTH MINDSET: There is an optional 3rd video (~5-10 min) each week where I will briefly cover a growth mindset idea or concept to get students ready to learn! Students need to foster their growth mindset to know they can learn anything with TIME, EFFORT, & SUPPORT. :) I want to make sure they are building confidence in themselves at the same time they are building math skills. *6 week version class with 2 lessons per week: https://outschool.com/classes/flex-class-foundations-first-part-1-math-intervention-for-6th-7th-8th-grade-WyLH68IE#us4I82BC4I Check out all of my classes, including full curriculum for 6th or 7th grades at outschool.com/teachers/ms.viddy !

My first goal is for students to have a positive relationship with math. Hopefully, I can build up their confidence and lower any stress around the subject. I try to normalize mistakes and create a low pressure, supportive and fun class environment.
I'm a Credentialed Middle and High School Math Teacher with 12 years teaching experience in grades 6 through 10 and a Master’s in Teaching.
I started my career teaching middle school math and then moved up to high school. I love teaching middle school after having taught high school because I have a very clear idea of where they are headed and exactly what they need to succeed in their first years of high school math.
