Class Experience
This class aims to: • Expose students to traditional Japanese karate through fundamentals • Burn energy and promote a healthier lifestyle • Interact with others via class portal • Promote positive feedback to other students
My name is Sensei Sheela and I am a former member of the United States National Karate Team. I have competed in the Pan American Championships, Italian Open, All-Japan Championships and the World University Games. I won several national and international titles during my time competing. Now I want to introduce children to the art and sport that I fell in love with at a young age. I have earned a Shodan (first degree) black belt in Goju Ryu and a Nidan (second degree) black belt in Ryuei Ryu. I have taught karate for over a decade and I am a mom to a 2 year old. I have learned how to keep a child's attention while also creating structure and discipline. My classes are fun, high energy and structured.
Since this a Flex course, students are required to do engage in the classroom either by recording and uploading themselves demonstrating the "technique of the week". If not able to upload the video, students can engage in the class portal by sharing what they found challenging about this technique or even posting a picture.
Water Comfortable Clothes Room to Move
Students who upload videos demonstrating skills will be given feedback on how to improve their techniques.
No live meetings, and maybe some time outside of class.
Safety is one of our top priorities on Outschool. Please make sure your student has an open workout space, comfortable clothes and a water to stay hydrated. We will warm up and stretch before each class, but it is always advised to adequately stretch before the class begins.
Students will not need to use any apps or websites outside of our Outschool classroom.
