Beginner Level
Ukulele is one of the most engaging string instruments for students to learn to play! Whether you've been strumming other instruments for years or you've just picked up an instrument for the first time, this class will guide you through using your instrument and take you from "novice" to "campfire song ready" in 4 days! We will learn all the most useable chords, practice singing while we play, and get used to tuning our instruments so you will know how to get your uke ready to play on your own time! In person, an instructor would likely a lot more hands on approach to teaching - but the ukulele can absolutely be taught online as well! To ensure a successful class, Ms. Crocker alternates between demonstration, student practice, and a one-on-one time for each student. While Ms. Crocker supports learners with their finger placement and strumming techniques one at a time, the other students will be expected to mute themselves and practice their skills. Learning new skills can be challenging, and there may be moments where your fingers don't do what you want them to...or your strings just don't sound right. It happens, and Ms. Crocker will do her best to balance class instruction with individual needs. For this reason, I keep class sizes below 5.
Learning Goals

Teacher expertise and credentials

Ms. Crocker has been playing music since she was 6 years old! She grew up with an opera singer for a mother, who handed her a ukulele for the first time on the beaches in California, where she grew up. After a childhood of experimenting with the instrument, she finally received official instruction in a college course. Since then, Ms. Crocker has shared her love of the instrument with students ages 6 to 60. She even organized a ukulele band at her local elementary school and hosted weekly jam sessions at the local library!
