Class Experience

Students ages 11-15 years old will enjoy learning the history of the ancient Celtics and their Priests, the Druids history!

Learning who the Druids and Celtics were, how they lived, and who they looked to for guidance, leadership, and direction; the Druids. This is a colorful and mysterious history lesson that travels into the past to find interesting facts about these ancient people.

History has revealed that the Druids were members of the learned class among the ancient Celts. They acted as priests, teachers, and judges. The earliest known records of the Druids come from the 3rd century BCE.

Students will learn how The Roman Empire sought to destroy the Druids and with them the Celtics. They will also learn fascinating details about the female Druid Priestesses, and amazing facts about what Caesar described when he landed in Britaina and quickly returned to Rome defeated!

Topics to be covered include:
Who were the Celtic people, and where did they live and originally comes from?
Who were the Druids, and what was their role in Celtic Society?
Was the great fictional character Merlin really a Druid? History has some ideas.
What was the female Druids Priestess' role in the society?
What were their primary beliefs?
Celtic and Druids influenced, is it still in society today?

My class is part lecture and part discussion, encouraging students to think critically and keep an open mind.

I offer breakpoints throughout the class to stop and discuss the topic together and work through any questions or comments students might have.

I am a welcoming teacher. There is no judgment in my classroom, all are welcome, and we practice respect in all my classes.
My teaching style is relaxed so that students are comfortable speaking their minds and really opening up to history.

Learners will be able to interact as much or as little as they feel comfortable.
The class includes slides, videos.

No required knowledge or experience is needed.

Class style: This class is lecture style and content heavy. This means that your child is not required to ask questions ( but can at anytime), read passages, or even have their camera on( Except for the initial verification). I do not coerce participation; they can choose to participate as much or as little as they desire. If you are looking for a class with tons of games and group activities, this isn't the class for you.
