US Grade 5 - 6
This class is an introduction to solving basic equations. Rather than using traditional variables, we'll be using emojis to make the concept more fun and relatable! Students do not need to have background knowledge in algebra, but should know their math facts (add/subtract and multiply/divide) well before starting this class. If a student does not have the appropriate background knowledge, this material will likely be frustrating for them. I will present the concepts during the live classes. Students will work along with me on some problems. Students should bring paper and pencil to every class session. There will be an optional worksheet available following each class session for extra practice. We will cover algebra vocabulary, solving one-step equations, the addition property of equality and the multiplication property of equality, solving two step equations with one variable. Students will learn how to check their answers.

Krystal M (she/her)
I'm a homeschooling mom and college instructor living in Colorado. I have a master's degree and enjoy teaching a variety of math and life skills classes on Outschool. I teach on Outschool part-time.
Math Classes
I have experience teaching math from elementary school through college. I taught for several years in the public K-12 school system prior to moving to the college level. I love working with learners who are having trouble grasping a concept and need some extra help!
Personal Development and Executive Functioning Classes
Part of my college teaching involves working with incoming students on executive functioning skills and study skills as part of the first year college experience. Building these life skills in middle school and high school gives learners a head start on creating these important habits.
About Me
I have 3 children of my own, along with two kitties and backyard chickens. I love reading, gardening, cooking, teaching, camping and traveling.
Learning should be engaging and fun! I look forward to meeting your learner!
My policies:
I recommend that learners have their cameras on and participate fully to get the most benefit out of classes. Class recordings are not shared in social classes for learner privacy. Class recordings in academic classes will be shared if a learner was absent and needs to access what was missed.
