US Grade 3 - 6
Beginner Level
Get ready for this egg-citing enrichment camp. You will need a dozen eggs for this. Students will learn Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Engineering. Each day will be a different Science. First, we will discuss the subject and what that entails. Second, we may have a discussion or handout. Third, we will set up our experiment. Fourth, we will experiment. Fifth, we will evaluate our experiment with an oral lab report. Optional: Students may write their lab reports after each class. ***Each day there will be a video about the chicken or the egg. This will help the student learn more about the history and anatomy of the egg. Videos may run 3-5 minutes long.
Learning Goals
The goal is to have children learn to have fun with science and hypothesize what will happen in an experiment based on what they know about eggs.
Syllabus
4 Lessons
over 1 WeekLesson 1:
Biology
What is an egg? We will learn the anatomy of a raw egg from the outer shell to the inside. How does an egg spin? How does it roll? Spinning and rolling an egg is easy but what happens if it's raw or boiled? Will the egg float or sink?
45 mins online live lesson
Lesson 2:
Chemistry (Parental supervision required.)
What happens if we burn an egg? What happens to an eggshell if we put it in vinegar? Let's find out!
45 mins online live lesson
Lesson 3:
Physics (Parental supervision required.)
Egg in a bottle? Really? Yes, it's possible to make an egg drop into a small-mouthed bottle.
45 mins online live lesson
Lesson 4:
Engineering
How can we save our eggs from cracking? Let's engineer a protective shield we will design with tape, straws, plastic bags, and paper.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Texas Teaching Certificate in Science
I've been teaching children Science experiments for over thirty-five years. I have taught elementary to high school age students. I love teaching children and watching their faces light up when doing experiments. Making Science fun is my goal.
