In this 16-week academic credited course, students will learn forensics and the techniques in solving crime scenes in each of the specialized areas. 

In this 16-week academic course we will learn the variety of forensic careers there are to study by reading and experimenting.

Let’s see “How observant are you?” Lab This will be a fun interactive game to test the limits of the students.


Observational Skills

Fingerprinting is another science in itself. Students will learn how to read fingerprints and reveal them, too. 

Dactylology 


Students will observe Seeds and Plant fibers. They will draw, measure, and collect specimens. 


Forensic Botanist

Observational Lab of various blood cells and blood type analysis. 

Forensic Phlebotomist 


Soil Analysis and Casting Lab will be a couple of labs where students will learn forensic techniques. Students will collect soil samples from their own yards and do a quick lab. 

Forensic Chemist 

 Students will use observational skills to analyze different fabric fibers


Forensic Microbiology

Students will learn about insects and how they can help determine the time of death.

Forensic Entomology 

Students will discuss the different roles techs play in prepping a scene.


Forensic Technicians

 Students will learn to differentiate different inks and writing tools through chromatography.


Handwriting Analysis

Students will learn to determine sex, age, ancestry, height, and sometimes the evaluation of trauma on bones.


Forensic Anthropology

Students will become familiar with the variety of bullets and guns there are. They will learn how ballistic scientists can determine if the bullet came from the gun that was collected as evidence.

Students will challenge each other and see if they can forge each other's signatures.

Forensic Forgery

Death involves decay. Students will set up an area to observe observational changes in how a non preservative hotdog decays.


The Cycle of Decomposition Part 1 

Logging and drawing how insects or animals may visit the hotdog will be charted by the student. This will help them understand how forensic scientists do this for a living. 


The Cycle of Decomposition Part 2  

Students are to do a final presentation of a crime scene they have created and explain some of the techniques we have studied as to how it was solved.

After reviewing a few forensic departments, students will share which they feel they may be confident in diving into.
