18 hrs 20 mins in-class hoursHomework
1-2 hours per week. Homework is assigned every week for students who request a grade. Students submit it via their OS email to the instructor. The instructor then logs completed assignments. Students will orally review all homework they have done during the class period. If they have an error, they are allowed to make corrections and resubmit. Students who do not need a credit but want to cover the material for enrichment do not need to complete homework; however, students gain more from the course by participating. They will need to gain some knowledge by reading or watching required videos.Assessment
Students will be assessed with periodic practice online quizzes and students can record their results privately. Their grade is not solely on these results. Students grades are based on a point system. Each assignment turned in is logged into my grade book for accountability. The class reviews the homework orally during class time. If they have found an error, they may correct it as we go along. Actual weekly tests are not given. Assessments are done orally.Grading

Students grades are based on a point system. Each assignment turned in is logged into my grade book for accountability. The class reviews the homework orally during class time. If they have found an error, they may correct it as we go along. Class discussions, submitted assignments, and oral assessments are what I base the student's grade on. The Project and presentation will be peer-assessed. I have an online rubric that students fill in and is privately submitted automatically. Presentations are required to receive a completed grade.Class Experience
US Grade 8 - 11
Beginner Level
There are many topics in this field of science taught in this course. Please refer to the syllabus for specifics. Since the grading system is based on homework submission. I do not give weekly grades but rather semester grades. I teach using diagrams, worksheets, videos, and using text. I like to use visuals and activities that appeal to the senses so that the material is easily recalled. ***Extra unit studies depend on the time required to complete all others. These will be addressed if students are all understanding other material. Otherwise, we will use those time slots for review.
Learning Goals
Students will understand the basics of Physical Science required for a Science credit or enrichment.
Students will learn basic math problems involved in Physical Science.

Parental Guidance
I only want parents to be aware that students will be viewing videos to enhance the learning experience via YouTube.
Also, parents should be checking their child's homework submissions. I've had students take courses that wanted a grade and submit nothing. I will notify the parent once but after that, it's up to the student and parents. When parents become aware their child hasn't done any of the work, they withdraw the student. Parents, please be vigilant.

External Resources
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Sources
An online text will be provided. I will not state which text we will use due to the possibility of it being removed from the internet at any time. I do have several online texts that I may tap into if needed. I will state that these are public school texts from varying states in the US. Presently, we will use the Holt or Glencoe Science and Technology Text. There is no need to purchase as it will be all online; including the workbook. This is a huge savings.
