Class Experience

This one-time class will meet for 55 minutes.
I will guide the students in a step-by-step process of making a 3D card. I have a document viewer that will focus on my hands and card so I can model the activity with the students. They will see each step clearly. We will go at a pace the students feel most comfortable.

We will draw, cut, paste, and color in this class.
The card will have a little, secret, pop-up feature.
This is super easy!

Students will gain a new skill to add to their creative toolbox.

It will be best if the students know how to use scissors and glue.
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to make 3-dimensional artwork. This skill can be used in many different creative ways other than card-making. Students will learn a simple technique that will add to their creative toolbox. Possibilities are endless when creating 3D art!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! Welcome to my class. This is a safe space to explore the academic curriculum through various pedagogy techniques including kinesthetic movement, artistic creativity, and using manipulatives. In other words, HAVING FUN!

Credentials:
BSED (Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education)
ESOL endorsement (English to Speakers of Other Languages)
AA (Associate in Specialized Technology) for Graphic Design.
I have spent the last five years studying and teaching diverse learners in B&M schools. A passion of mine is to help struggling students gain comprehension of the material. It is important to me that the students feel confident and excited to learn. This can be easily accomplished through teaching multi-sensory lessons.

Philosophy: Non-violent communication is the backbone of my teaching style. Some of my inspirations include RIE (Respectful Infant Education), Montessori, Capturing Kids Hearts, and Orton-Gillingham. I believe it is important to challenge students in a fun and creative way that will complement academic goals. Peaceful communication and positive reinforcement encourage student growth. Most of all, learning can be REALLY FUN!

Fun Fact: I am a maker of things! I love making stuff like dolls, clothes, food, books, posters, and more! I tend to paint anything that looks plain to me. I love refurbishing and recycling. I think it is a gift to use what is available in order to create less waste.
