In this class, students will learn about the French artist Henri Rousseau, who created his famous jungle paintings without ever leaving Paris. Rousseau studied exotic animals and plants by visiting zoos and botanical gardens and used his imagination while painting distant lands. During the class, we will compare Rousseau's Parisian landscapes with his jungle scenes. We'll talk about Rousseau's imagination and his ability to tell stories with his art. Finally, we'll make up a story based on one of Rousseau's paintings. In the second portion of the class, we will make a 3D jungle inspired by the art presented earlier. 🎨✂️🤩 My goal is threefold: to familiarize children with famous works of art, to inspire creativity, and to make kids realize that they are artists who can make their own choices about their creations. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO CHECK THE LIST OF MATERIALS NEEDED FOR THE CRAFT. ALSO, PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT FOR THE CRAFT PORTION OF THE CLASS, PARENTAL GUIDANCE IS RECOMMENDED FOR USING SCISSORS AND OTHER MATERIALS. Class is appropriate for (𝐂𝐄𝐅𝐑: B1, B2, C1, C2)

Parental Guidance
For the craft portion of the class, parental guidance is required for younger students (ages 4-5) for the use of scissors and other materials. Parental guidance is recommended for older students (ages 6-8). Please note that as per Outschool policy, parents should remain off camera Thank you.
Supply List
Supply List: • Shoe box WITHOUT LID OR TOP (please cut it off if attached) • Playdough • Wide blades of grass and / or Multiple leaves in oval shape OR any kind of green plants • In winter (when there are no green plants), substitute with any of the following: construction paper, tissue paper, clay, playdough, pipe cleaners • Glue • Crayons or pencils • Scotch tape

I am a graduate of Temple University in Philadelphia with bachelor degree in Psychology. Also, I studied Early Childhood Education in Israel and Ukraine.
Before I started teaching on Outschool, I've being teaching creativity classes inspired by classical music and fine art in afternoon preschool program working with Pre-K through 2 Grade children. Earlier, I was a homeschooling mom for 7 years.
I believe that childhood is the best time to inspire human creativity. By regularly exposing children to works of art and classical music as well as helping kids to process their experiences through games, crafts, and dramatic play, adults have an opportunity to cultivate their creativity.
