Please note this class will be starting Semester 2 in January 2024. I do have other classes starting Semester 1 at the same time. And Semester 1 & 2 can be taken in any order. Also content does build but each class can also be taken as a stand along class, so you can join anytime. All students will get a certificate of attendance with grades if requested. Welcome to the "Earth Science" weekly ongoing class, which focuses on some of the most dramatic physical forces on Earth, with the aim of making learning fun and exhilarating. I think making learning enjoyable and bringing science to life is the best way to get kids engaged and learning without realising it. No previous experience necessary. ▬▬▬▬▬▬ CLASS SUMMARY ▬▬▬▬▬ In this class we focus on all parts of the Earth Science school curriculum, with a new topic being introduced each week. All topics covered are an important part of any child's education in Geology, Meteorology, Weathering, Oceanography and the Planets. You can make this into a full year course by doing Semester 1 before or after. Or it can be made into TWO YEAR COURSE if Semester 3 is also added. Semester 3 is a full year course. Semester 3 can also be taken as a stand alone course. ▬▬▬▬▬ WEEKLY TOPIC SCHEDULE ▬▬▬▬▬ Spring Semester starts in the 2nd week of January 2024. Semester 1 classes will start in Autumn 2024 again. ▬▬▬▬ SPRING SEMESTER 2 ▬▬▬▬ 1) HISTORY OF THE EARTH - PART 1 - THE CONTINENTS 2) HISTORY OF THE EARTH - PART 2 - LIFE ON EARTH 3) ROCK TYPES AND GEOLOGICAL PRINCIPLES 4) MINERALS & GEMS IDENTIFICATION 5) PLATE TECTONICS 6) SEDIMENTARY ROCKS & FOSSILS 7) IGNEOUS ROCKS & VOLCANOES 8) LAST HOUR OF THE DINOSAURS 9) GEOLOGY OF NORTH AMERICA 10) EARTH SCIENCE OF THE SOLAR SYSTEM 11) EARTH SCIENCE of VENUS AND THE MOON 12) EARTH SCIENCE of MARS 13) EARTH SCIENCE of OTHER MOONS 14) WEATHER SYSTEMS 15) CLIMATE CHANGE ▬▬▬▬▬▬ CLASS STYLE ▬▬▬▬▬ I use PowerPoint presentations for all my classes, so I can mix text and multimedia (photos & videos) which I think makes the class more accessible and interesting. This class will be in a lecture style with an "intro-questions-repeat" format. This means I will take a few minutes to introduce a topic, using images or videos wherever appropriate in order to bring the subject alive. At the end of the section there is the opportunity to ask questions, although students can also ask questions anytime. Then we'll move on to the next exciting sub-topic and supporting material and then field questions if there are any. This means that you can enjoy the class however you like. Speak up and get involved and ask questions, or just listen and enjoy with no pressure. I recommend doing Semester 1 in the Autumn and Semester 2 in Spring and if the student would like a more interactive discussion class then please join Semester 3. I also do 4 day camps in the summer based on the same topics. Please contact me to arrange either one-off or ongoing bespoke 1-to1 tuition sessions.

Parental Guidance
Some classes talk about Global Warming and Climate Change causing more frequent natural disasters. It also talks about mass extinctions including the possibility of humans causing one now (including ourselves) and has some drawn images of animals dying to become fossils. It is delivered in a upbeat manner with positive solutions (eg: switching to renewable energy), but the more sensative students may find these topics distressing.
