Class Experience

In this 16 week class, we will study major topics in earth science including geology, meteorology, oceanography, and astronomy. We will learn about topics including the layers of the earth, weather, ocean layers, and the solar system. I teach in a very interactive style. I like to ask questions and involve students in discussion. Students are never required to answer questions, only as they are comfortable. I use google slides, short video clips and Kahoot review games in each class. I will provide handouts with notes for students to follow along with each week as well as quizzes and additional worksheets after class to help with review. Students have the option to turn in these assignments for grading. We will be doing hands on activities and experiments during many of the weeks to help with learning. Supplies will be posted on the supply list as well as each week in the classroom so students can be prepared. I have been teaching science to students of all ages for the past 8 years both in person and online. I love science and hope to share my excitement with students! I love to see students find new interests in science topics and want to investigate even more outside of class .

Learning Goals

Students will be familiar with the major topic areas included in Earth Science.

I have been teaching and studying these science topics for the past 8 years both in person and online. I have taught science at our homeschool coop in past. I have been teaching science on outschool for the last 3 years. I am very interested in many science topics including extreme weather, natural disasters and the solar system. I love visiting museums, reading books and studying these topics. I have also been teaching after school science classes to students for the last two years.
