Class Experience

ATTENTION: THIS CLASS HAS BEEN UPDATED! It was formerly "Play My Way Through Math." Your child will enjoy the new Holiday themes and activities!

Does your child love to celebrate the holidays? Do they struggle with basic math concepts? Are basic math skills new to your child? If the answer is YES...then this ongoing preschool/kindergarten class is perfect for you! We learn through engaging bright digital slides that grab and keep your child's attention during the Zoom presentations. We also learn through playing fun games, completing mazes, doing color by code, class discussions, and worksheets. This class will meet your struggling students' need to succeed in mastering math concepts. Concepts rotate throughout the month and are repeated again the following month. To keep it engaging, each month will have its own holiday worksheets and games. Not all skills are taught every month.

Each month we cover skills like counting, writing, and ordering numbers from 1-20. We use ten frames to help us learn our numbers. We will subitize to help identify different ways we can show a number. We learn how to read number words and match them to the corresponding number. We learn what number is one more and one less. We review shapes each month. We learn to read color words and match them to the corresponding color. We learn number bonds and place value. We will work with place value cubes to determine how many there are of something using place value vocabulary. We learn how to use a number line, as well as, comparing numbers to learn which number is greater, less, or equal to. We learn addition and subtraction through 10 with opportunities to learn through 20. We play games, do mazes, and color by code; numbers, number words, addition, and subtraction. We will be sorting, collecting data, and graphing items. We will count how many items there are and place the number in a chart. Then we take that data and create a graph using the information we collected. We will discuss and create patterns.

I interact with the students as we have class discussion, as I answer questions, as we play games, watch videos, and learn from the Zoom presentation. You will have a printout and I have a digital color version of most activities. It is important that you print the printouts so that your child has a hands on experience. It will be important for you to cut out pages that have a "cut and paste" aspect before class so that we can get right on the lesson.

This is an ongoing preschool/kindergarten class. The classes are stand alone independent classes. Each week we study different objectives. The next week we study a brand new set of objectives. If you missed a skill, we may be teaching it again the following month. I do not teach for mastery each week. I expose them to a skill and then revisit that skill again and again until they understand it. Your child is welcome to join or drop this class as needed.

All Ongoing classes have a standard refund policy:
"Cancel subscription at any point, no refund for past subscriptions. Payments can be refunded within 24 hours of purchase."

I ask that screens are kept on through out the lesson. The children's reactions allow me to adjust my teaching to meet their needs.
This class is set up to support all learners. I teach to many different learning styles and provide activities for all children. My classes are interactive and student interaction of some kind is expected. It could be a smile to agree, or a thumbs up, or an oral "yes." I will take whatever your child is comfortable with. I provide opportunities for your child to succeed.

Parental Guidance
For my 3 and 4 your old's, I recommend parents sit next to their children just off camera to help make sure they have the right page, stay on task, and to keep them seated and quiet. I love a child's response. We just need to keep talking to a minimum. This class does use external sources. I use Google Slides and YouTube videos in my presentations. All slides and videos are rated G. This resource will only be used as a screen-share.
