Have you ever wanted to learn how to play Dungeons and Dragons but didn't know where to start? You're in the right place with this class! During this class, we'll be learning the basics of how to create a level one Dungeons & Dragons character and discuss scaling up to levels two and three (the level that most of the complicated and more exciting options start coming into play). We'll talk about what each section of the character sheet means and what options you should choose depending on what you want to make. We will dive into an overview of the wide array of races, classes, subclasses, backgrounds and alignments available in the game. Along the way, we'll be discussing basic mechanics of how to play and what exactly you use these features for. We'll talk about which spells to pick, how combat actions work, cantrips and spell slots. The information will be broken down in a fun and accessible way and we'll be making references from a popular website, DND 5e Wikidot, which has all of the DND books compiled into one website. Learners will also be introduced to DND beyond, a popular website that makes it easy to create characters in a virtual setting! This class will be relaxed and learners are welcome to ask questions throughout, though we do have a lot of information to cover so some of the lesson will be lecture style so that we can fit everything in. Players of all skill levels are welcome. There is no need to have experience playing, but players of all levels can learn something useful here. Each learner will receive a copy of the basic D&D Players handbook and an introductory PDF to DND Beyond.
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to create characters in Dungeons and Dragons, as well as learn the basic mechanics they need in order to start playing in an adventure. Dungeons and Dragons includes cooperative puzzles and adventures to improve their story-telling, character building, social and critical thinking skills.

Parental Guidance
Please be aware: table-top RPGs are full of surprises and improvisation. They may be rated PG due to fantasy violence, magic, scary themes. I will be keeping the game as family friendly as possible but there will be fantastic battles and possible character injuries.
I will be directing them to D&D Beyond and DND 5e Wikidot to assist in creating a character, which are free and safe resources for D&D players.
Supply List
-A free DND Beyond Account created & signed in (recommended) -D&D Player Handbook (provided and optional, but will be referenced. No need to print)
2 files available upon enrollment

Sources
We will refer to the D&D Player handbook, which I will provide a copy of. I will be directing them to D&D Beyond and DND 5e Wikidot to assist in creating a character, which are free and safe resources for D&D players.
