In this Dungeons & Dragons game, the game is run by the teacher or Game Master (GM) who guides the story, while the learners are players controlling characters they've designed themselves. When the ancient wizard Tyndareus develops a craving for a special treat from his childhood, he will stop at nothing to get his hands on the best apple pie in the whole world. He hires a group of adventurers to seek out the bakery that once produced the wonderful dessert – unfortunately for them, the bakery has long since been overrun by goblins. But all is not as it seems at Grammy’s Bakery, and Tyndareus isn’t the only one who’d do anything for those pies. During this class, we will use pre-generated character statistics for learners to pick from and they may mold their history and personality from there. This would be a great adventure for first time table top players or beginners, because they will ease into the world and learn the rules without being overwhelmed by a large storyline or major character creation. If your student already has a level 1-4 D&D character, they may bring an already existing one. The teacher (GM/gamemaster) will describe the world and make the players feel like they are truly living in the world, assisted with maps, music, and visuals on a shared screen. All learners will be expected to roleplay their characters in class, such as speaking as their character in dialogue and describing what they want their character to do. Costumes are not required but completely welcomed. First 5 minutes: chat and intros, wait for late arrivals Roleplay the adventure for around 45 minutes 5 minute break for snacks, stretching, and bathroom Finish the Roleplaying session 45 minutes Last 5-10 minutes will be a session recap If you're familiar with Dungeons & Dragons, we'll be using language like "roll for initiative" and "perform a dexterity check". However, being familiar with this terminology or rules is not required to participate in the class. I will be facilitating the rules during the session and aiding the learners in creating a story that they are fully enveloped in. This would be a great adventure for beginner table top role players. Some of my 5th Edition D&D rules will be modified for simplicity sake for the learners.
Learning Goals
Students will work together in cooperative puzzles and adventures to improve their story-telling, character building, social and critical thinking skills. During dice rolls, we will also be using very basic addition and subtraction.

Parental Guidance
Please be aware: table-top RPGs are full of surprises and improvisation. They may be rated PG due to fantasy violence, magic, scary themes. I will be keeping the game as family friendly as possible but there will be fantastic battles and possible character injuries.
If your learner needs help creating a character, I will be directing them to D&D Beyond, which is a free and safe resource for D&D players.
Supply List
