Hi friends! In this class we’ll learn 8-10 different sports equipment pieces, what they are used for in the sport and how to draw them using basic shapes. As the teacher, I’ll make this class fun and engaging by singing, clapping and drawing along with my students! I love to have fun by making class engaging and interactive through playful learning! At the end of class (if time permits), each student will have the opportunity to share their favorite sport! As a recommendation prior to taking this class, please make sure your child knows how to draw the following shapes: Circle Triangle Square Rectangle Oval Half Circle *I will walk through each drawing step as we create each picture, but find it best if learners are comfortable drawing these shapes prior to attending class so they don’t feel behind. Please review my class rules and policies: 1) My goal is to keep classes close to the scheduled amount of time, however, sometimes classes with low enrollments or especially talkative students may go over or under a few minutes. If your child is attending a drawing class, if they were unable to complete a specific drawing, feel free to message me after class and I’d be happy to provide a copy of the drawing so they can complete it on their own time. 2) Classes will begin and end at the scheduled times, even if learners are late to the classroom or absent. 3) If no learners are in the classroom, I will wait 10 minutes before exiting the classroom. Per Outschool policy, “If your learners have not joined the meeting 10 minutes after the start time, the meeting may be canceled, at the teacher’s discretion. This is considered a missed meeting and you are not entitled to a refund.” 4) To ensure safety and security, ALL of my students are required to turn their cameras on at the beginning of class so I can check identity. Students will also be asked to speak throughout each class, so a working microphone is required. This helps ensure security and safety, as well. If your child doesn’t feel comfortable reading/responding, please feel free to send me a message prior to class so I’ll be aware. 5) All students may be muted upon the start of class to prevent background noise and distractions. Please familiarize your child with the “Mute” and “Unmute” button in Zoom. If background noise and distractions are at a minimum then I leave the microphones unmuted so we can easily exchange conversation. 6) If a student would like to talk they may physically raise their hand or use the “Raise hand” feature in Zoom. I will try to do my best at keeping a watch out for a raised hand so each student has the ability to ask questions or comment. 7) Parents are not required to be present during class, but it is helpful to be nearby in case your child has IT issues. 8) I follow all Outschool refund policies. https://support.outschool.com/en/articles/16379-refund-policies-and-happiness-guarantee?fbclid=IwAR0ieErrKtfr0xmuQMdKwah-ES2j900RwaConBcC6IrjUG7Nuhaftv2m75k 9) Per Outschool’s policies for multiple learners from your household, “Parents are welcome to enroll two or more learners in the same section of a class provided that the class has enough spaces. You will need to enroll each learner separately for the section, but learners are welcome to share a device if that would make it easier to attend class.”

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello friends! My name is Melissa and I live in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Virtual learning isn’t just convenient, it should be tons of FUN! My passion is to create lifelong learners that embrace curiosity and knowledge. My classroom environment is positive, interactive and allows for discussion and the ability to dive deeper into our topics.
I am a certified online ESL educator. I have a B.S. degree in Graphic Design from Full Sail University and hold an ESOL endorsement. I taught special education (grades 2-12) and ESOL (all grades). I have 6 years of experience teaching online - always striving to create the most engaging and fun learning environment for my student!
I offer a variety of classes in many different subjects for many different ages. I specialize in teaching drawing and English to students from all over the world! I can help students learn basic conversational English, phonics, and vocabulary. I also offer life skills courses and state history and exploration courses.
I have a passion for using props to really help students stay engaged and understand concepts more clearly. I believe learning isn’t just about understanding in your mind, but also connecting the physical / real world application. I also think social emotional learning is just as important as knowing your ABC's.
Traveling is my favorite hobby! Hawaii is “home” in my heart and I love all things beach. I have a deep understanding of the history and attractions of Hawaii. With over 27 years of experience traveling to the islands, I've become an expert on sharing it's history and traditions with students through my classes. Teaching virtually has allowed my to connect with students from all over the world and not only teach them, but I’ve learned quite a bit from them as well.
Life is precious. Live. Learn. Laugh.
Happy Learning friends!
