In this single course, artists will learn basic manga and anime drawing styles to draw their own faces.
Class experience
Are you an anime or manga fan who wants to learn how to draw in the style? Get started with this single course all about learning how to draw manga portraits. Better yet, draw yourself as a manga character! We will dive right in to learning the basics of manga/anime style eyes, noses, mouths, and expressions, and then we will take those skills and apply them to our own faces. Artists are encouraged to ask questions, discuss, and share ideas on how to put a creative spin on their drawings....
Artists will learn the basics of anime/manga portrait drawing. They will understand basic general placement of facial features in portraits.
I received my AA in studio art in 2016, and I have been teaching art since 2020, when I led a paint tutorial for a sixth grade birthday party that was almost cancelled due to the pandemic. I really enjoyed the experience and became excited about the idea of sharing art and creativity with other artists. I love both the science and subjectiveness of art--I think there's a lot we can learn from it, and I can't wait to share it with your learners!
1-2 pieces of paper pencil eraser colored pencils, markers, or crayons
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
