Animals can be hard to draw realistically, but with the right techniques and tricks, we can make it happen. In this ongoing class, we will practice drawing animals from reference photos and maybe learn a little bit about them too! Each week we will draw a new animal from one of the animal kingdoms. We will begin class each day with about 15 minutes of discussion on drawing fundamentals (line, shape, etc.) and how to break down the reference photo. Then we will jump right into the daily project. The next four animals we will draw are: 11/25--Labradoodle 12/2--Owl 12/9--Panda 12/16--NO CLASS 12/23--NO CLASS 12/30--NO CLASS This club is great for beginners with no experience! It is less creatively focused because it is tutorial-style instruction, but creativity, questions, and sharing are always highly encouraged, though not required. Any incomplete work can be finished up outside of class (if desired). I find that a teacher is only as good as their flexibility. I use structure to guide students in achieving certain skills, but I leave the experimentation, creativity, and imagination up to them! I actively strive to learn from my students as much as they can learn from me.
Learning Goals
Students will learn and practice lines, shapes, values, modeling, texture, blending, shading, and how to use drawing utensils to create realistic drawings.

I received my AA in studio art in 2016, and I have been teaching art since 2020, when I led a paint tutorial for a sixth grade birthday party that was almost cancelled due to the pandemic. I really enjoyed the experience and became excited about the idea of sharing art and creativity with other artists. I love both the science and subjectiveness of art--I think there's a lot we can learn from it, and I can't wait to share it with your learners!
