I meet with each student individually on a rotation basis and discuss improvements.Class Experience
I will be using a dry erase board and/ or a sketch pad for teaching the process of creating a cartoon image. Students choose the character they would like to draw, and how much detail to add. This includes shading and/ or coloring. Choices are made prior to class and communicated to me via Outschool email using the teacher tab on the learner page. My drawings are visible throughout the class via an overhead camera. I use annotation to help students comprehend how lines and shapes connect. Content does not build, so students can join during any week that is convenient for them. My teaching technique caters to each student’s level of artistic ability by giving individual attention to developing the skills involved toward achieving a specific result. They are encouraged to interact with fellow students and with myself, provided they are able to stay focused on their work. I always enjoy when students share the artwork they completed outside of class using the skills they learned! Neurodiverse students are welcome! I am fully aware of the positive emotional effects the creative arts have on the cognitive and behaviorally challenged. Thus, I ensure the nature of the class accommodates the specific needs of all students. In addition, I believe having the option to choose contributes toward inspiration, enthusiasm, and motivation regarding their entire class experience.
Learning Goals
Students will learn to improve their skills at drawing depending on the level they choose to reach. They can choose to do a basic line drawing or add more details if desired.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a lifelong, self- taught artist, beginning at a very young age. I received 3 years of advanced art instruction in secondary school. My experience includes selling my work in an art gallery which I owned and operated. I continue to be privately commissioned and give pieces as gifts. Prior to retiring from working in special education for 20 years, I applied my skills in the form of art therapy for behaviorally challenged children in the classroom setting. Cartooning was usually the medium of choice for students.
