🙋🏻♀️Welcome to "Dive Into Notetaking: Sketch Notes!" In this class we will review what Sketch Notes are each week and why they can be a great tool to use in taking notes and keeping information in our long term memory. We will review best skills and practices each week of what you can use to take sketch notes. ❤️My Teaching Style: I aim to support differentiated learning so while all learners will listen to my initial lesson when we do our practice time I will give students opportunities to push themselves ahead or work with me longer to understand the skills. 🧠Prior Knowledge: Students need to be able to read at a 5th grade level. 🗓️All students will get a chance to showcase their understanding as well as practice reading for comprehension a non-fiction text or a non-fiction video. Every week will be a new article/video so student's can join one class or come back the following week for extra practice! The topics chosen to practice taking notes on each week will be using Newsela, CommonLit, and various news sources and chosen each week based on current events and student interest expressed beforehand in our course page.
Learning Goals
Students will be able to take detailed, yet concise notes using sketch notes.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I teach 7th and 8th grade humanities and have taught high school English in the past. The biggest life long skill students can learn early is how to take notes. Most students struggle with either writing too little or too much, and then have a harder when reviewing the information later. This course is part 2 in a series I will be developing that aims to give students the expertise in how to take a variety of styles of notes themselves in the most efficient way possible!
