This class can be taken alone, or as the part two to the "Intro to Decimals" course. In this one time class, we will take a look at the value of each place in a number. We will discuss what it means when we use a tenth, hundredth, or thousandth in a number. Learners will look at decimal grids to understand how a whole has been broken up into different parts. We will use fractions to also represent the different amounts that we have. For this course, learners should know the names of each place value and how to read a decimal.

Welcome! My name is Teacher Shannon and I am so excited to meet you! I have been working with students from all ages for over ten years and I am ready for you to join the party! Our classes together will focus on a range of things from fun with fractions to diving into life underwater. Don’t worry - our time together will be boring and uninteresting. Not! Your class will be full of excitement and high energy as we approach learning in an exciting way. I have a passion for connecting with students and helping them feel as if their teacher really “gets” them. My experiences have helped prepare me to meet the needs of students of every type. Previously, I was a fifth grade classroom teacher and I have a Masters of Arts in Teaching, a Bachelors of Science in Interdisciplinary Liberal studies, and a minor in elementary education. Outside of teaching, I am a PADI certified professional scuba diver and I hope to bring my love for all things aquatic into our classroom. I look forward to seeing you soon!
