Class Experience

In this one-time class, we will focus on improper fractions and mixed numbers. We will begin class by noticing the differences between the two representations and discussing them. We will take a look at how they are represented using bar models. Then, we will define the meaning of these two terms. To reinforce the concept, students will create their own definitions of the terms. Next, we will use visual representations to count and create our own mixed numbers and improper fractions. Finally, students will use these bar models to write improper fractions and mixed numbers. We will use the "I do, we do, you do" model to ensure your child is able to grasp the material at their own pace. This would be a good class for students who are working to strengthen their fractional number sense.
