US Grade Preschool - 1
Beginner Level
The focus of this weekly ongoing 20-minute class is to provide your preschool or primary school aged child (3-7 years old) with a unique learning experience, with an emphasis on literacy skills, numeracy skills, vocabulary enrichment and comprehension, and any other foundational skills that they might need. These can include conversational skills, beginner reading & spelling skills, general knowledge acquisition, or focusing on an area of individual interest (eg. animals, crafts, vehicles, nature, science, etc.). Because of the open-ended style of this class, there is no predetermined topics or schedule; instead, I will work with you to determine what you would like me to focus on with your child. Week 1: Introduction, get to know your child and their interests / assessment of skills if applicable. Week 2-6: Individualized and structured lesson based on student interest, needs and skills level, and parent request. Week 7: Re-evaluation of skills and interests. Week 8 and beyond: continued lessons with re-evaluation every 4-6 weeks, or as requested. Here are some sample lesson plans based on various needs and skill levels. All lessons can be adapted to fit individual needs. Academic Lesson (for older learners): 1. Welcome and brief conversation 2. Review of previously learned concepts (literacy or numeracy) 3. Introduction of new concept 4. Practice of new concept 5. Quick review General Skill Building Lesson (for younger learners): 1. Welcome and chat (with engaging song or puppet) 2.
