Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 7
Harry Potter and Katniss Everdeen weren't created in a day. If you love wizard, dragons, far away worlds and dystopian settings, this summer camp is a place where you can get creative with your own storytelling with the help of an experienced (and...um...fun) writer/teacher/dragon-slayer.

In this club, young writers can let their imaginations go wild in a supportive and friendly environment. We'll hang out, share ideas, and write. I'm very creative, exceptionally experienced, and love teaching writing. I'm available for support and encouragement, as well as constructive feedback.

Class Structure:

✏︎ Focus Elements and Discussions
Each class, I will present an element of storytelling that writers can focus on developing for their own original work. World building is a big part of the fantasy genre, so I'll be including a mini world-building breakout session for those interested. Other genres can benefit, as well!

✏︎ Writers' Choice
This class has a fluid structure. Writers have choices about how to best spend class time. Writers will decide at the beginning of class whether to: 1) simply write in good company 2) brainstorm jam 3) cuddle and critique breakouts

✏︎ Teacher Interaction
My role is to facilitate learning. I've an overabundance of ideas and enjoy offering help and feedback.

✏︎ Peer Interaction
This is a positive and supportive environment. Writers should be open to helping each other. Students are encouraged to share ideas and stories (though this is not mandatory).

✏︎ The Grand Finale
At the end of class time, writers will have an opportunity to share a snippet, or if time permits, a larger scene.

✏︎ Lets have fun and write!

Suggested Focus Discussions (this can change based on what students request or need),
