Lesson 2
Session 2: Starting Your Website
Choosing the right template based on the intended website function. Customizing templates: changing layouts, adding pages.
Lesson 3
Session 3: Planning Your Website's Structure
Creating a design outline and planning content placement. Introduction to basic design principles: alignment, contrast, and usability.

Lesson 4
Session 1: Sourcing and Managing Content
How to source images and videos legally (using royalty-free resources). Best practices for formatting and uploading images and videos for web use.
Lesson 5
Session 2: Enhancing Your Site with Media
Adding and customizing media elements like images and videos. Introduction to advanced features such as galleries and slideshows.
Lesson 6
Session 3: Incorporating Interactive Features
Adding interactive elements like e-commerce features and forms. Overview of Wix apps that enhance site functionality like Wix Stores and Wix Forms.

Lesson 7
Session 1: Review and Refinement
Finalizing the website design. Peer-to-peer review of websites to provide feedback.

Session 2: Going Live
Steps to publish the website. Checking functionality and design across different devices.
Lesson 9
Session 3: Class Website Showcase
Each student presents their website. Discussion on challenges faced and how they were overcome. Feedback session from the instructor and peers.
Students will be able to plan, draft, and publish a website using the Wix hosting platform.

Students will be evaluated based on their active participation and the progression of their website from concept to publication. The final peer review session allows students to present their completed websites and receive feedback, which is crucial for their ongoing development as web designers.

Requirements: Students will need a Laptop for this class. Tablets and IPads will not work for this class.

This course utilizes Wix, a third-party web development platform that is widely recognized and used for educational purposes. Students will be required to create a free Wix account to participate in the course. All account setup and usage will be guided and supervised during the sessions. Wix is safe for educational use and adheres to high data privacy standards. No personal information beyond what is necessary for account creation will be required. Parents are encouraged to oversee the account setup process.
