Class Experience

This course is directly aimed at students who wish to pursue art/animation/graphic design as a career and are interested in building portfolios for jobs and college applications. Constructive Criticism will be offered on all art pieces created during class. Students will be expected to complete projects outside of class.

This course is designed to sharpen student's artwork through its emphasis and implementation of the rules of art and design and their application to our artwork. Students will listen to a short lesson on a specific design principle, and will then go through their own artwork to see where they have or haven't implemented it. Students will also be presented with a suggested prompt for the weeks artwork that they can use as inspiration for their next portfolio piece. Following the interactive phase students will start work on their portfolio pieces. These are the pieces that will go in their professional portfolio. Students can re-draw/paint old pieces, or create new ones implementing their new knowledge of the art principles.

My name is Ashley Kaye I am an artist with years of teaching in the public school system under my belt. I have built multiple art programs from the ground up and I believe that anyone can be an artist if they have the right training. In my years of teaching art I have seen timid students blossom into wonderful artists with the help of the right tools. There has never been a student that I couldn't teach, and I don't believe in giving up until we get it right.

I teach group classes on digital and traditional art as well as private art lessons. Want a specific time for a lesson or class? Just shoot me a message and I'll do my best to make it happen.

I adore Godzilla (probably to an unhealthy extent) and I live in Idaho with my husband, three beautiful kids, six chickens, the world's most ridiculous cat and a fat lazy German Shepard named Lucky.
