In this one time class I will walk students through creating the two of the most used objects in 3d games. Crates and Barrels! The class will be run as if the student is a new intern at a game studio, and is for beginners who would like to learn about 3d modeling. They will be going through this orientation class to learn their role as a 3d modeler in the art department of the studio. We will look at concept art and how to plan out a model from concept art. Then we will move into Blender, which is an open source and free to download software, to start creating our 3d models. Students will learn about how to move inside a 3d world then we will work through the different parts of a 3d model. Once we have created our crates and barrels we will give them color, lights and a camera to create a full animation. Lastly we will prepare our models for exporting to a game engine. However don't think this class is all just fun and games. We will be talking about geometry and physics before the class is through. Using coordinate planes to understand location and photons to understand how light works in the 3d world. In this class you will get to see the 3d art side of game development. If you are programmer working on a game or someone who can't get code to work but still would like to work in the game industry, then this is the class for you. I can't wait to meet you and see what you create.

Supply List
We will be using the software Blender for this class so please check that your computer can run the software before downloading it before class. Blender does work with most computer systems made in the last 5-10 years. Students will also require to use a 3 button mouse while working in Blender.

Hello!
My name is Liz McCorkill and I am a 3d Artist, Online Teacher, Game Developer, Bookworm, and a Nerd. I am also the proud owner of two fur babies cats, Pebbles and Midnight. Warning Pebbles loves to go to school and may show up in class from time to time just to say hi.
I have been working with children for the last 4 years as a teacher, bus driver, and stay at home Aunt. Before that I worked in software testing and teaching at Central Piedmont Community College.
I would love to bring the classes I created for my college level students in 3d Modeling and Game Development to a younger generation so that they can see what really goes on behind the scenes to make their favorite games.
Along with games I love to read and delve into world history and trivia like why do we shake hands with our right hands and not our left? Well for those that don't know it is because people would use their dominant hand to fight with swords, daggers, or guns. It was a sign of respect to put down your weapon and shake hands. Also it was harder to hurt the other person if your dominant hand was busy.
Pebbles and I cannot wait to meet your student and show them around my world be it in 3d modeling, books or history.Reviews
