Have you ever wondered why your technology behaves the way it does? How are people able to comunicate with computers and get them to perform different tasks? If you've ever pondered these questions, then look no further than this 1-hour introduction to the wonderful world of computer programming! Computer programming is an amazing skill that I believe everyone should have an opertunity to explore. Programming helps promote problem solving skills and provides a creative means to explore other STEM topics, like mathematics. During this class, students will be exposed to various surface-level programming topics such as learning about programming languages and how we can identify a programmer's work in everyday objects. Once students feel confident with the general idea of what programming is, they'll work alongside myself as we take a look at creating our very first computer program using Python! By the end of the class, students will have an appriciation for computer programming and will leave class with their very own computer program! This class is designed for individuals without any prior programming experience! So what are you waiting for? Join me as we explore the fascinating world of programming!
Learning Goals
- What does a computer programmer do?
- What are programming languages?
- Why is computer programming important?
