In this one-time workshop, students will get an in-depth look at every aspect of the college admissions process and will learn how to create a detailed roadmap to stay focused and organized.

Class experience

This course is designed as a broad overview for students who are completely new to the college admissions process. Students will learn about every aspect of the application process starting as early as their freshman year of high school through their senior year. They will leave the course with a clear roadmap for the steps that they need to take to be organized and efficient in their college search. They will have plenty of time to ask any lingering questions that they think of. This course is geared towards high school students who are applying to competitive 4-year schools, but nontraditional college applicants are welcome.
I have experience as a college admissions counselor at the University of Pennsylvania where I helped prospective students and parents through the application process. I read and evaluated hundreds of applications, worked closely with high school guidance counselors, and served as a recruiter for prospective student-athletes. I also served as a private college coach through Solomon Admissions Consulting and have volunteered as an alumni interviewer. I have experience working with students of many different backgrounds and am passionate about making higher education accessible to all!
Students will not need to purchase materials, other than what they need to take notes and participate through Zoom. I will not provide my slides. I will, however, be providing students with a Google Sheet template for their college roadmap. I can also provide this in Microsoft Excel for anyone who does not want to use Google, but the spreadsheet is not necessary for students to learn in this course. All links to external sources will also be provided in the classroom.

I recognize that applying to college can be a personal and emotional experience. I will be very sensitive to this, and students will not be required to share any personal information with the entire class. Students can always use the private chat button.
