You can bring a prompt from a current college or scholarship application or you can use the class provided prompt that can be adapted for nearly any application. - Students will select topics for their personal statements, understand and target their essays for their audiences, learn the three rhetorical modes of personal statement writing, develop compelling stories in their essays, and develop their unique voices.
I have been teaching English at the University of California system and at the California Community College system since 2007. I also worked in undergraduate admissions for two years and have worked one-on-one with college applicants.
