Does your child love Thomas the Tank Engine and his friends? If so, this is the class for you! In this class your child will meet Thomas and his friends from the Island of Sodor. We will practice color identification and learn how to use the words "same" and "different" to compare objects by sorting the trains into their specific groups. We will also practice the skill of counting by counting the number of trains in each color group. This class will be mostly discussion based, which will allow your child to interact with me as the teacher, and their peers. During the class your child will have the opportunity to graph the number of trains in each group, if they would like. We will work together as a group to complete the graph.
Learning Goals
Students will be able to identify the colors: red, orange, yellow, green, and blue.
They will apply their knowledge of colors to compare objects that are the same and different.
The students will be able to graph the number of trains in each color group with support.

Ohio Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Hello and welcome to my classroom; I am so excited to meet you! Since I was little, I have always had a passion for learning, and I always knew that I wanted to be a teacher. I began my teaching career by working as a paraeducator, working with students on math and reading skills in a small group setting. I loved my job, but eventually moved on to teach kindergarten for three and a half years. After having our first son, I decided to become a stay-at-home mom. Awhile after having our second son, I started to miss teaching, and wanted to get back into it somehow. So, I started working as an online ESL teacher, and I have been doing that for almost two years now. This job showed me how great the online teaching environment can be and helped me develop skills that I can bring into my classroom.
Being a mom of two little boys, and a former kindergarten teacher, I have a lot of experience in working with younger students, and you will find that most of my classes are geared toward those ages. As a teacher, I will focus on the foundational skills that are necessary in your child's learning as they continue to grow as learners. In my classroom you will find a lot of classes that focus on early math skills like color recognition, sorting, making patterns, addition, and subtraction. I will also be offering classes that focus on early reading skills that are foundational for your child to develop as a reader. These skills include letter names, letter sounds, rhyming words, and blending.
I believe that learning should be fun, and I will do my best to ensure your child has fun while learning in my classes. I think that parent and teacher communication is very important in a child's learning as well, and as your child's teacher I will communicate your child's successes after each class.
