What's included
2 live meetings
1 in-class hoursHomework
1-2 hours per week. Students will be required to complete their kits before week 2 and come to that meeting prepared to present it to the class.Class Experience
There is nothing wrong with being bored. Boredom can become the mother of creativity. Sometimes, though, we need a little nudge. Often, parents feel responsible for providing that nudge. This kit - made by and for each individual student - will lift that responsibility from parents and put it squarely on the child. Week 1: We'll discuss what an "I'm Bored" kit is, how we'll put it together, and start brainstorming ideas for what will go in each of our kits. We'll also discuss expectations for the next week. Week 2: Students will present their kits to the class along with how they've used their kits over the last week. While listening to other presentations, students will find themselves sparked with even more ideas for their own kits which they can then implement after class. Please note that students will either need to know how to write independently or parents will need to be nearby (but off screen) to write for them. Students will walk away with a kit they'll use for years to come (with some modification as their interests change over time) and parents will leave resting easy in the knowledge that they are no longer responsible for being the family's entertainment committee.
