In this continuous class, we will read The Deadly Dungeon together. During our reading time, we will focus on vocabulary, reading comprehension skills such as the difference between fact and opinion, summarizing, main idea and details, sequencing, character traits. Reading comprehension will be a major focus of this class by me asking questions to ensure the students are engaged, focused, and retaining what we are reading. We will also practice fluency with students taking turns reading. At the end of each chapter, we will discuss main ideas and points to focus on summarizing. For each class session, the goal is to read about 15 pages per session. The student will be responsible for reading two chapters at the end of the week. Session 1: (Comp Skill Focus: Character Traits) Session 2: (Comp Skill Focus: Facts/Opinions) Session 3: (Comp Skill Focus: Comparing/Contrasting) Session 4: (Comps Skill Focus: Summarizing) The last class session we will focus on writing a summary of the story including main points and details supporting the main points.
