In this ongoing class, students will be highly engaged by listening to a story and responding to text-dependent questions to build their reading comprehension and vocabulary skills. These activities include peer discussion, listening to a story while following along visually on the screen, singing songs, making visuals posters, drawing pictures/ writing in response to the text, and playing various games as a group that correlates to the focus skill of that week. Students will learn a different skill each week that could topics such as the main idea, character traits, theme, etc. Each week the story and skill change. This class focuses on listening comprehension although the story is visually presented to the students so they can follow along with the words and build their fluency.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their reading/ listening comprehension skills and learn strategies to utilize when answering questions about a story.
