*𝘗𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘦 𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘴𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘮𝘦𝘦𝘵 𝘰𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘳 𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘬.* 📚 This class is chock-full of reading and learning strategies. In our time together, students will read an informational passage in each class. They will practice using the six strategies to understand what they read and then paraphrase the text in their own words while avoiding accidental plagiarism. In this class, students will interact with the large group of students and the instructor. We ensure students feel comfortable but also challenged. 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻: ✅ to read for understanding. ✅ techniques to remember what is read. ✅ how to prepare for tests. ✅ how to paraphrase ✅ how to avoid plagiarism. ✅ how to do a close read. ✅ how to annotate a text. ✅ how to take notes. ✅ how to have a good attitude toward a difficult task. 🍋 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙇𝙚𝙢𝙤𝙣𝙨-𝘼𝙞𝙙 𝙒𝙖𝙮 🍋 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐋𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐬-𝐀𝐢𝐝, 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐨𝐩𝐡𝐲, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬! We follow best practices in designing class time, assignments, and routines. According to Pennington Publishing, effective writing feedback (or grading) is: • Specific, not general • Immediate, not postponed • Routine with a revision / feedback cycle • Explanatory • The right amount • Targeted to the most critical issues • Varied (written, audio, and video comments) • Holding students accountable 👩🏫 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀: To see teacher introduction videos, go to the Lemons-Aid profile page where you can view the video and also read bios. https://outschool.com/teachers/Karen-Lemons?usid=0BAnv5zn&signup=true&authTrigger=follow_teacher&follow=true&utm_campaign=share_leader_link
