Reading Comprehension Practice and Fun!

What We Will Teach:

Reading Strategies: Students will learn key strategies to improve their comprehension, such as predicting, questioning, visualizing, summarizing, and making connections.

Text Analysis: We will explore different types of texts, including fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and informational articles, helping students understand and analyze their content.

Vocabulary Building: We'll focus on expanding vocabulary through context clues, word roots, and engaging vocabulary exercises.

Critical Thinking: Students will develop critical thinking skills by discussing themes, characters, and plot developments, as well as comparing and contrasting different texts. 

Topics We Will Cover:
1. Characters and Settings: Understanding the who and where of stories.
 2. Plot and Sequence: Identifying the beginning, middle, and end of stories.
 3. Themes and Messages: Exploring the deeper meanings and lessons in texts.
 4. Fact vs. Opinion: Distinguishing between factual information and personal viewpoints. 
5. Inference and Conclusion: Making educated guesses based on text clues. 

Class Structure:

Interactive Lessons: Each session will start with an engaging lesson on a specific reading strategy or topic. 

Reading Aloud: We'll have read-aloud sessions where students can share their favorite parts of stories and practice their reading fluency.

Teaching Style: My teaching style is interactive, supportive, and fun. I believe in creating a positive learning environment where students feel encouraged to express their ideas and ask questions. Through a blend of direct instruction, collaborative work, and hands-on activities, I aim to make learning enjoyable and meaningful.
