It was the focus of movies such as Stomp the Yard and Step Sisters. It has been incorporated into choreography from Disney's Descendants, Zombies 2, and Beyonce's 2018 Coachella performance. Are you ready to learn how to step?! Stepping is a fun and energetic form of percussive dance in which the participant's entire body is used as an instrument to produce rhythms through a mixture of footsteps, spoken word, and hand claps. During this one time class, after a quick warm up, students will be given an introduction to beginner level step moves through a short routine. Since this is a beginners level class, no previous experience is necessary.

Teacher expertise and credentials
My mom says that I came out of the womb dancing but I had my first experience with choreographed dancing when I was around 10 years old. My early formal training was in ballet, modern, and jazz. I quickly discovered a love for hip hop, pom, and kick line as a member of both junior and senior high dance teams.
Upon arrival at the University of Oklahoma, I continued my formal training with classes in jazz, modern, and broadway style dance. I also performed with a variety of campus based dance teams and learned the art of stepping as a member of the Kappa Alpha chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. My many dance endeavors in college led me to win Favorite Dancer in the 2001 Zeta Phi Beta People’s Choice Awards.
After moving to Minnesota, I continued taking hip hop classes and became a dance instructor. I also continued with my love of stepping as a member (3 years) and “step master” (2 years) for the Minneapolis-St. Paul Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. step team, earning three 1st place titles at the Midwest Greek Step Show.
Although I have “retired” from performing and competing, I have continued with my passion for dance and step through coaching and choreographing for youth dance and step teams for the last 14 years.
