Class Experience

Once a week for 6-weeks, we will come together for an hour to learn 12 basic embroidery stitches and work on creating and making our own embroidery piece. No experience is required, only a desire to learn and to create. After the 6- weeks, students will walk away having a profound understanding of how to successfully create and execute an array of embroidery projects themselves.

A week-by-week break down:

Week 1: We will discuss all the tools needed and how they are used. Once we have put together our fabric and embroidery loop, we will draw out each stitch that we will create throughout the course and talk about them. Then we will begin the first 2 stitches.

Week 2: For this week, we will continue with our learning of new stitches. This week we will work on 4 more for our hour together.

Week 3: We will add 4 more new stitches to our embroidery sample. We will also start to do some brainstorming of what our final embroidery projects will be.

Week 4: We will learn and talk about our final 2 stitches in our series of 12 and discuss all the stitches we have learned over the 4 weeks. This week we will begin to draw out our ideas for our final embroidery project. This is a good time to bounce ideas of one another.

Week 5: We will apply our patterns to our fabric and begin our projects.

Week 6: For our last class together, we will continue to work on and finish our embroidery projects. This is also a great time for any last-minute questions about embroidery and about our projects.

Hi there! My name is Tessa DeForge. I live in the beautiful state of Vermont with my husband, 2 silly dogs and 2 precocious cats. I graduated from Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2011 and hold a bachelor's in Art Education.
I am very passionate about education. I have taught in a traditional setting for 10 years as a 6-12 art teacher and as an early educator. I love to teach a multitude of things through art and play. Some of the classes I offer are: Art Social Group, Crochet Club, 1;1 Knitting and Crochet classes, as well as social groups, to name a few. I am always looking to expand on my class list. The skies the limit when it comes to art and I hope to have some more exciting classes up and running in the very near future.
