Class Experience
In weekly ongoing private lessons, students will learn the fundamentals of playing flute! We'll cover all of the necessary basics and work toward individualized goals designed to fit each learner's needs and interests. Each class will begin with warm-ups to prepare and reinforce healthy techniques. For the remainder for class, the learner will practice skills while learning to perform a variety of music repertoire. Frequency: includedFeedback: includedDetails: It is recommended that students practice their instrument for at least 10 minutes per day, 5 days a week. Short and frequent practice sessions are important for building and maintaining embouchure muscles and reinforcing skills learned in lessons. As students build muscle strength and skillsets, longer practice sessions can lead to further gains.Assessment
Frequency: includedDetails: Students will be informally assessed during lessons and will be given verbal and/or written feedback to guide their practice. Please contact Teacher Janelle if you would like to discuss more formal assessment.
Required: - Flute and case - Cleaning rod and cloth - Method book (For first few weeks, curriculum materials will be provided - Teacher Janelle will discuss method book information with student after class has begun) Recommended: - Music stand - Metronome and tuner (many phone/online applications are available for free or low cost) NOTE: Other supplies may need to be purchased for flute maintenance such as pad paper or small screwdrivers, and more extensive maintenance may need to be conducted by professionals for a higher cost.
