Mastery Evaluation
2-4 hours per week. Practice makes perfect!! But also, practice makes progress! Students will be required to practice outside of class. Not to worry - We will discuss a practical practice game plan during your lessons! Students will receive written and/or video feedback after each lesson, with assignments and tips and tricks to improve their flute playing each week. Practice time will vary depending on the student’s age and playing level. Remember: Practicing a little bit each day is way more efficient (and easier) than cram practicing over the weekend.Class Experience

Supply List
Required Materials: Concert C flute - In good playing condition, of course! Tuning rod and cleaning cloth - Amazon is a great place to pick up these basics. Gotta keep that flute clean! Music - We will discuss the most appropriate etude books and other music at that first lesson and as you progres. Pencil - Always write on music with a pencil rather than a pen. Musical decisions sometimes change. Tuner and Metronome - There are great apps available for both! Old school stand alone devices also work perfectly. Music Stand - Nothing fancy required (a wire stand will do). This is essential for us to discuss good posture (both seated and standing). It is also the best place to situate music while you are playing. A Positive Attitude - Playing the flute should be fun! Let’s tackle this together!

Teacher expertise and credentials
About the Teacher:
Dr. G is an actual doctor of flute playing! I have a Doctor of Musical Arts degree as well as a masters and bachelors in flute performance. I have been teaching flutists of all ages, levels, and backgrounds for over 25 years. I am a freelance flutist, private flute teacher, flute blogger, flute astrologer (yes, that’s a thing), and a board member with local flute societies. My students have gone on to be successful orchestra players, teachers, and lifelong flute enthusiasts! When I am not fluting, I enjoy visiting Disneyland to hang out with my BFFs Mickey, Minnie, and Donald and spending time with my crazy energetic bulldog, Meatloaf, who is a fan of everything flute (and food) related.
