Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 5

Welcome to music class! In this ongoing weekly drop-in class, students will explore a broad range of foundational music skills and concepts through sing-a-longs, music games, guided listening activities, and more! Classes will be very interactive with plenty of opportunities for students to sing, make music, and actively participate both individually and as a group. This class is taught in English.

Students will be able to participate in all class activities without materials. However, for the best experience, I recommend that students keep a box/bin of music materials nearby in an area that is easily accessible during class. Recommended materials for music class include:

♪ Hand Drum (DIY: plastic bucket, sturdy cardboard box, or another safe item with a flat surface students can hit with their hand or a mallet like a drum)

♪ Rhythm Sticks (DIY: wooden spoons, markers, or two other safe long, thin stick-like items students can tap together to make sounds)

♪ Fun Sounds (1-3 other instruments or found sounds a student may want to bring to class - ex: shakers, triangle, DIY instruments, or safe household items that make fun sounds)

♪ Paper, markers/crayons, and pen/pencils

30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.

Students should have a safe space during class to move around, dance, etc.
