Artemis Adventure Club is inspired by the Hunters of Artemis- A fictional group from the Percy Jackson books by Rick Riordan. It is a social club that meets once a week and will appeal to Percy Jackson fans as well as other students. While the club is inspired by a group from the Percy Jackson books, club members do not have to be fans of the books. Club members will have the opportunity to socialize, work on a craft or activity, and play games. I believe that every student has uniques talents, skills, and strengths. My goal is to help them discover ways to use their abilities to the benefit of themselves and others. Early meetings will be led by me, but as the students grow they will take more of the responsibility to start conversations, design crafts, or lead activities. The primary goal of the club is to provide a fun, comfortable, social experience for my students. With a fun activity and some great companions, the Artemis Adventure Club will provide a safe and upbeat community for all. I also hope to inspire the students to make the world a little brighter by sharing their gifts and helping others. I have been teaching online for a while and I have been amazed by the excellent people that I have taught. They may be "just kids", but they are all exceptional. Teacher expertise and credentials
I have spent many years leading small groups. I have been a small group leader, a camp counselor, a teacher, a club leader, and a swim instructor. I am able to foster an atmosphere of kindness and cooperation and am very good at diffusing personality conflicts.
I have also spent a lot of time in service. I have been a short-term missionary in Mexico, on a Native American Reservation, and at a
live-in home for people with mental disabilities. I was a leader in a costuming group that was dedicated to service and coordinated with local charitable organizations on behalf of my group. I am also a "Hero of Hope" for the American Cancer Society and was an American Cancer Society volunteer for many years.
