The Great Eight Social Club (Autism, ADHD, Anxiety and Neurodiverse Learners)
Artemis Adventure Group
Class experience
Artemis Adventure Club is inspired by the Hunters of Artemis- A fictional group from the Percy Jackson books by Rick Riordan. It is a social club that meets once a week and will appeal to Percy Jackson fans as well as other students. While the club is inspired by a group from the Percy Jackson books, club members do not have to be fans of the books. Club members will have the opportunity to socialize, work on a craft or activity, and play games. I believe that every student has uniques...
Students will have a safe place to express themselves and develop friendships. They will work on being kind and respectful-- even when they disagree. They will develop their talents, skills, and strength in an environment designed to nurture creativity. They will learn from others and teach others. They will have opportunities to serve both the Artemis community and their local communities.
I have spent many years leading small groups. I have been a small group leader, a camp counselor, a teacher, a club leader, and a swim instructor. I am able to foster an atmosphere of kindness and cooperation and am very good at diffusing personality conflicts. I have also spent a lot of time in service. I have been a short-term missionary in Mexico, on a Native American Reservation, and at a live-in home for people with mental disabilities. I was a leader in a costuming group that was dedicated to service and coordinated with local charitable organizations on behalf of my group. I am also a "Hero of Hope" for the American Cancer Society and was an American Cancer Society volunteer for many years.
Students should have something to write on and something to write with. Some activities will require additional supplies, and a supply list will be provided for those activities as needed.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
