IMPORTANT: *Learners will need to be comfortable using the chat for this class* Is your learner’s love for wild animals unmatched? Are they constantly impressing friends and family with their wildlife knowledge? Well, let’s put it to the test! In this Animal Trivia course, we will see just how much your kiddos know about animals. Each trivia session will have 10 questions (though we may not get through all 10 based on discussions) that will encourage us to explore some of the most unique and incredible animals on the planet. Once we figure out the correct answer to the trivia question, we discuss the animal, check out photos, and watch fascinating videos to encourage students to learn even more! Each trivia session has a different theme that allows us to explore various animal groups, adaptations, habitats, and so much more. During occasional classes, learners will spend some time engaging with one of our LIVE animals and have the opportunity to ask lots of questions. This class is a great opportunity for learners to connect with other animal-loving kids and share their passion with their peers. I can’t wait to meet your learners and discuss some of the world’s coolest species. 2024 (new class topics will be added as we approach the date): Week of December 30: Elephants (No Tuesday or Wednesday classes) Week of December 23: NO CLASSES Week of December 16: Animals That Love Winter Week of December 9: Cetaceans Week of December 2: Parrots Week of November 25: Bears Week of November 18: Snakes Week of November 11: Sharks Week of November 4: Butterflies Week of October 28: Spooky Species Week of October 21: Who Am I? Hi there!
My name is Sarah and I am so excited to explore wildlife, science, and conservation with your learner. I was born and raised in the Metroparks of Ohio, but I currently call the Sonoran Desert of Arizona my home.
I have had a strong love for wildlife and nature for my whole life and have built my career around it. In 2017, I graduated cum laude from Arizona State University with a B.S. in Conservation Biology and Ecology. I am a Certified Environmental Educator in Arizona and a Certified Interpretive Guide through the National Association for Interpretation.
After college, I worked on several wildlife studies in the field studying species like the western diamondback rattlesnake, spectacled rattlesnakes, and Bahamian rock iguanas. I gained experience as an informal educator developing programs for schools and homeschool students at the Phoenix Zoo, Shedd Aquarium, South Mountain Environmental Education Center, and SeaLife Aquarium.
At the start of COVID, I founded an organization that creates wildlife and conservation STEM resources for K-8 students, including a science curriculum program that teaches core science subjects with an engaging animal twist.
My greatest objective as an educator is to make science FUN. My classes cover important science topics while using wildlife and nature as our driving forces.
