Do you love the ocean? Do you love the incredible marine animals that live in the ocean biome? Then this camp is for you! In this 5-day camp, we will discover the wonders of 5 different ocean ecosystems using interactive Google Slide presentations, exciting videos, beautiful photos, and interesting discussions. Each camp session will include an introduction the marine ecosystem (the characteristics that make it unique), the challenges the ecosystem presents to the organisms that live there, and an introduction to the species that call each ecosystem home. We will learn about how each species overcomes the challenges presented by the ecosystem and how the plants and animals interact! As we learn about these amazing organisms, we will discuss some of the conservation challenges each ecosystem is facing. The Ocean Camp is the perfect combination of fun and educational and will empower learners to have a positive impact on the ocean! Learners will be encouraged to answer and ask questions throughout each day of this interactive camp. Learners should come prepared to have fun, be respectful, and develop a bold love for the ocean and its inhabitants! Camp Schedule: Day 1: Introduction & Coral reef critters Day 2: Open ocean organisms Day 3: Kelp forest creatures Day 4: Tide pool patrons Day 5: Deep sea dwellers
Learning Goals

Hi there!
My name is Sarah and I am so excited to explore wildlife, science, and conservation with your learner. I was born and raised in the Metroparks of Ohio, but I currently call the Sonoran Desert of Arizona my home.
I have had a strong love for wildlife and nature for my whole life and have built my career around it. In 2017, I graduated cum laude from Arizona State University with a B.S. in Conservation Biology and Ecology. I am a Certified Environmental Educator in Arizona and a Certified Interpretive Guide through the National Association for Interpretation.
After college, I worked on several wildlife studies in the field studying species like the western diamondback rattlesnake, spectacled rattlesnakes, and Bahamian rock iguanas. I gained experience as an informal educator developing programs for schools and homeschool students at the Phoenix Zoo, Shedd Aquarium, South Mountain Environmental Education Center, and SeaLife Aquarium.
At the start of COVID, I founded an organization that creates wildlife and conservation STEM resources for K-8 students, including a science curriculum program that teaches core science subjects with an engaging animal twist.
My greatest objective as an educator is to make science FUN. My classes cover important science topics while using wildlife and nature as our driving forces.

I offer a series of one-time, multi-day, and ongoing classes. Please feel free to request one-time classes if you do not see a session posted.
