This class will introduce and teach many basic 2-D shapes. This is a fundamental skill for early childhood learners. Students do not need any prior knowledge of shapes. Students will view pictures of shapes. We will talk about the name, what it looks like and the number of sides it has. Then students will have the opportunity to draw the shape or build it using objects such as popsicle sticks, q-tips, or any straight small object. To end the lesson it will be tied into their everyday life. Students will view pictures of everyday objects and identify the shapes they see.
Learning Goals
Students will be able to identify 2-D shapes. Students will begin to learn the attributes of each shape.

Supply List
Students will need paper and something to write with- can be a pencil, crayon, or marker. Students will also need small straight objects such as popsicle sticks, q-tip, crayons (they may roll so that may cause difficulty). I will be modeling with popsicle sticks.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Hello there!
My name is Ms. Post. I have been a teacher for 2 years but worked with children in the early childhood stages for about 8 years. I have a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education with a concentration in psychology.
At Outschool, I will be teaching a variety of topics ranging from language arts and mathematical concepts as well as social-emotional lessons. Some common classes you can expect to see are addition/ subtraction concepts, writing and reading skills as well as other fundamentals!
I value education highly and I love to instill a love for learning into others. I think learning can only occur when students are engaged, having fun, and feel safe and comfortable. I will strive to build a relationship with every single student I interact with. I meet every learner where they are and help them grow from them.
I am excited to meet everyone and begin the wonderful world that a strong education foundation can bring.
