Algebra 1-Solving Equations With X on Both Sides (Quick Lesson and Review)

In this one-time class we will learn to solve equations where the variable (x) is on both sides of the equal sign. We will start by solving basic equations where the variable is on both sides.  We will then advance into more complicated equations that involve using the distributive property and combining like terms.  Finally we will discuss the different special cases that occur when solving equations.  These special cases include equations with no solution and equations that result in infinitely many solutions. 

I teach by asking many questions that guide the learner to the correct conclusions.  Therefore, students should be ready to discuss and brainstorm together as we work through problems. 

A set of notes will be provided upon enrollment.  We will work through these notes as a class to cover all of the concepts listed above.

Before taking this class, students should know how to use opposite operations (addition/subtraction and multiplication/division) to solve equations where "x" is on one side of the equation.
