US Grade 5
This multi-day class is designed to be a review of math concepts taught in fifth grade math. It is specifically meant for learners who have already finished fifth grade math, and are looking to review and practice concepts over the summer to maintain previously mastered skills, or to have extra practice with concepts that learners struggled with during the school year. It is not meant for learners who have not yet been exposed to fifth grade math concepts, as the class will move through concepts at an accelerated pace in order to cover everything during the summer months. Day1: Multiplication and Division (multi-digit whole numbers) Day 2: Place Value with Decimals (number line, expanded form, written form, rounding, comparing) Day 3: Adding and Subtracting Decimals Day 4: Multiply Decimals and Powers of Ten Day 5: Divide Decimals Day 6: Adding and Subtracting Fractions and Mixed Numbers (with unlike denominators) Day 7: Multiply and Divide Fractions and Mixed Numbers Day 8: Geometry (volume) Day 9: Geometry (properties of triangles and quadrilaterals) Day 10: Coordinate Plane Day 11: Writing expressions and Order of Operations Day 12: Measurement This class follows a "flipped" classroom model, where interactive videos introducing the concepts that will be covered in the next class meeting will be sent ahead of time. These video activities are optional, but are a good way to review concepts before the class meeting so that more of the meeting time can be spent practicing the concepts. After each live class meeting, an optional practice activity covering the previous lessons' topics will be send in order to provide more opportunities for independent practice. Please not that this is a multi-day class with a set schedule. Please review the entire schedule before enrolling, as missed classes will not be rescheduled or refunded. Thanks!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! I have been teaching in the public school setting for the past fifteen years, and tutoring privately for the past six years. I have worked with students ranging from kindergarten to eighth grade in math, reading, writing mechanics, American History, and beginning Spanish. I especially enjoy working with students in small groups or individually, and have recently developed skills as an online educator due to school closures. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy watching television and movies, and traveling with my family.
